New Go Green and Beyond Blueprints Tours are Oceania Cruises’ newest shore excursion series. Here’s what you need to know about the exciting new shore excursions from Oceania.
Go Green Tours
150 Go Green Tours will be added to Oceania’s top destinations across Africa, Alaska, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, Northern Europe and South America. The tours center around cultural immersion and connection with local people to enjoy a greater understanding of the destinations’ sustainability efforts. Travelers will be able to engage with residents and businesses to learn how they’re working to conserve and sustain their surrounding ecosystem.
The educational tours provide travelers the chance to make an impact as they tour a destination. The impactful tours include learning about the fascinating aspects of hydroponic farming in the rainforests of St. Kitts; viewing eco-conscious art in Buenos Aires, Argentina; imbibing in zero-emission rum in the world’s only carbon-free distillery in Dartmouth, United Kingdom; or hiking through Bach Ma National Park Ecosystem in Hue, Vietnam
Several tours introduce travelers to sustainable wines. Go wine tasting at a sustainable vineyard in Almeria, Spain. In Bordeaux, France, travelers will learn about and taste biodynamic wine at Château de La Dauphine, an organic vineyard that has been creating sustainable wines since 2015.
Many Go Green Tours focus on wildlife conservation. Costa Rica is home to the delightfully slow sloth—no other animal on Earth moves as slowly as these creatures. On a Go Green Tour in Puntarenas travelers will visit a sloth sanctuary that cares for orphaned or injured sloths with hopes of returning them to the wild. You’ll see baby and adult sloths at various stages of rehabilitation while you learn about the animals and local conservation efforts.
Beyond Blueprints
Travelers who love to admire the architecture in a foreign destination will be thrilled to join any of the 10 European Beyond Blueprint tours. Each tour offers a rare in-depth look behind-the-scenes at some of the world’s most iconic landmarks. On the Beyond Blueprint tours guests will hear little-known stories from insightful guides about the inspiration, reasoning and genius that brought these architectural marvels to life.
Visit the modernistic Royal Library and The Blue Planet aquarium in Copenhagen, Denmark where an architectural historian will reveal fascinating details about their extraordinary designs including The Black Diamond extension of The Royal Library with its irregularly shaped monolithic prism clad in black granite. The Blue Planet is the largest aquarium in Europe and was designed to look like the shape of water in motion and whose aluminum panels on the building’s exterior look like fish scales.
The current offering also includes the Equinor office building and the Munchmuseet in Oslo, Norway and La Villa Mediterranée and MUCEM in Marseille, France. Other Beyond Blueprint tours will focus on sites in Barcelona, Spain; Belfast, Northern Ireland; Glasgow, Scotland; La Coruna, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; and Sete, France. Oceania plans to unveil Beyond Blueprint travel experiences across the globe later this year.
